Mik has been working in the theatre and event industry for the past 30 years as a Stage and Production Manager, a Technical Director, Operations Director and Production Executive. His early career included work on productions of PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, CATS, SUNSET BOULEVARDE and many other shows and events.

In 2000 Mik joined the Sydney Olympic Team as Technical Production Manager and Production Stage Manager for the Olympic Ceremonies. In 2001 he worked with Jack Morton Worldwide as Senior Production Manager for the Ceremonies of the 2002 Manchester Commonwealth Games followed by the Rugby World Cup Opening Ceremony in 2003.

Returning to the Olympics in 2004, Mik took a position as the Technical Director Staging on the Athens Olympic Opening and Closing Ceremonies.

In June 2005 Mik joined Jack Morton Worldwide as a full time Senior Technical Director based in the London Office. For five years Mik assumed senior roles working with Jack Morton clients like Toyota, IBM, Unilever, SWIFT, Zain, NOKIA, FIFA and the City of London. This work included both corporate and public events, including the London New Years Eve Celebrations and the FIFA 2010 World Cup.

In 2010 Mik accepted the role of Director of Operations for the London 2012 Ceremonies, overseeing the Operations and Health and Safety departments for the four Olympic and Paralympic Ceremonies.

In late 2012 Mik and his wife Celia Smith established Red Thread Solutions Ltd in London, a company that provided consultancy and production solutions to the public and corporate events industry, consulting on the Sochi 2014 and Rio 2018 Olympic Games, the 2015 European Games in Baku as well as the Glasgow 2014 and Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games. In 2015 Red Thread Solutions devised, produced and delivered the Legoland theme park live action show, Ninjago, for Legoland Malaysia. The show has been recreated in Dubai and Japan and is still running in Malaysia.

In 2016 Mik joined the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Organisation (GOLDOC) as Head of Ceremonies and Arts and Culture. Mik was responsible for overseeing the delivery of the Opening and Closing Ceremonies for the Commonwealth Games and the creation and delivery of the twelve-day Arts and Culture festival (Festival 2018) that accompanied the Games on the Gold Coast.

Mik is now the Director of Red Thread Solutions Pty Ltd in Australia. Most recently the company has provided production consultancy and production services to the ICC 2020 World Cup, the Lima 2019 Pan American Games and to the Gold Coast Home of the Arts (HOTA).
