CONFERENCE TRACK: Best Practice Case Studies

Liz Williamson PSM is the Director, Strategic Communication, Engagement and Events for the Qld Department of Education. This role is responsible for the delivery of effective, creative and efficient services in the areas of communication, media, marketing, events and programs which is aimed at schools, students, parents and the wider community ensuring efficient and effective client focused service delivery.

Liz has spent more than 27 years working in the events industry coordinating and producing many large-scale public performances and prestigious events including the massive Pacific School Games which was the test event for the Sydney 2000 Olympics Games Opening Ceremony. The Australian Olympic Committee awarded Liz a prestigious International Olympic Committee Medal for this event, in recognition of her outstanding work.

Liz was cast manager and large arena consultant for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games Opening and Closing Ceremonies, coordinating more than 16 000 performers. Liz is a multiple national award-winning event manager and has received a Public Service Medal in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list.

Liz introduced Creative Generation – State Schools Onstage to Queensland 15 years ago, and has been the Producer/Creative Director ever since. Liz is recognised on the Queensland Government’s Culture Champions Wall of Fame an initiative that celebrates the many arts and culture heroes shaping the state.
